Reigning Miss World Ksenia Sukhinova announced as face of Eurovision 2009

Reigning Miss World Ksenia Sukhinova was recently announced as the ‘face’ of Eurovision 2009 which will be held in Moscow on the 16th May.

As part of Russia’s celebrations hosting Eurovision 2009, Ksenia, who hails from the Russian city Nizhnevartovsk, has been part of a unique makeover where she has been styled to represent the 42 competing countries.
The shots of Ksenia were unveiled on thousands of billboards throughout Europe in April and they will also appear on screen before each country’s performance in the Eurovision final on 16th May.
Originally organisers were going to use models from each of the 42 countries but when Konstantin Ernst, General Director of Channel One Russia, saw how wonderful Ksenia looked in the shots decided he only wanted to use one girl, he explains ‘We would like our guests coming to the 2009 Eurovision to see the image of their country personified by a beautiful Russian girl. Life itself has given us a unique chance, the title of the Miss World 2008 was awarded to a Russian girl which means that she is officially recognized as the most beautiful girl on the Earth. Due to the efforts of the stylists and makeup artists Ksenia now looks like the native beauties of various European countries’.
“I can't recognize myself!”
Ksenia commented about her participation in the project ‘The four days of intense shooting passed in a flash. In the Eurovision promo campaign I represent completely different images of participating countries. I do like the outcome of our work, though I can not recognize myself in some pictures!’
